SEC XRBL Filings
XBRL (Extensible Business Reporting Language) is a language for the electronic communication of financial and business data. XBRL is one of many languages in the XML family for displaying information on the Internet.
In early 2009, the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) adopted rules requiring public companies to provide their financial statements in XBRL format and to post their financial statements in XBRL format on their corporate websites. These rules did not immediately apply to all public companies, but rather have been phased-in gradually over the last several years.
